(Categories:Bachelor’s degree: 4-6 years Master’s degree: 2-3 years Doctoral degree: 4 years)

Criteria and Eligibility

1Applicant must be an American citizen.

2Bachelor’s degree applicants must have a high school diploma and be under the age of 25

3 Master’s degree applicants must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.

4Doctoral degree Applicants must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.

5Applicants majoring in one’s native language or language literature majors of a third language (French, English, etc.) are ineligible.

6Applicants should not be holding any other scholarship provided by Chinese government.

Application Procedures

(1)Nankai University Admittance

  • I. Submit application materials to the International Students Section prior to the deadline (March 10th).

  • II. All valid applications will be reviewed by Admission Committee Panel of NKU and final admission List will be confirmed by school. (March 25th -April 10th) .
    * Only applicant who has been accepted by Nankai University can be qualified for Chinese Government Scholarship.

(2)Chinese Government Scholarship Admittance

  • I. The list of scholarship candidates will be finalized and sent to the China Scholarship Council before May.
  • II. International Students Section will announce scholarship final results after getting the confirmation from China Scholarship Council before the end of July.
  • III.International Students Section will announce scholarship final results after getting the confirmation from China Scholarship Council before the end of JulyUpon announcement, Nankai University International Student Office will mail applicants an Admission Notice as well as Form JW201 - Visa Application for Study in China.

Application Materials (in Duplicate, A4 size and print single sided)

(1) . Please go to the website www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina to fill out the online application and print out the form. Please submit the application form with a photo. (Note: Please choose “B” for “Program Category” and type “10055” as “Agency No.”)

(2) . Please register in http://nankai.17gz.org/ and finish the online application, submit and print it out.

(3) Notarized highest diploma. Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

(4) Academic transcripts (written in Chinese or English). Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

(5) Personal Statement, including study or research plan, personal background, financial situation, personal strengths etc., written in Chinese or English (no less than 800 words).

(6) Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors. The contact information of the recommenders should be attached.

(7) Applicants applying for the Chinese-teaching discipline, please submit HSK level 4 or above. Those who have not reached the required HSK level or have no knowledge of Chinese can apply for one year of scholarship-covered remedial Chinese language studies before entering their major studies. Applicants whose native language is not English applying for the English-teaching discipline should provide TOEFL (above 87) or IELTS (above 6.5) score.

(8) Foreigner Physical Examination Form (photocopy) (written in English). The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.

(9) Photocopy of Passport (should be valid till Sep 30th of the admission year ).

(10) Copy of Application Fee Receipt. Application fee for postgraduate is CNY600 or US$100, and for undergraduate, CNY400 or US$75. Please submit the fee to the Nankai University Registry (ground floor of Nankai University Student Activity Center). If you need to wire the money, please send it to following account:

Value of Award

1、Exemption from tuition fee, and on-campus accommodation.

2、Living allowance: Bachelor’s degree: CNY 2,500/m; Master’s degree: CNY 3,000/m; Doctoral degree: CNY 3,500/m.

3、The Chinese Government Scholarship students’ comprehensive insurance in China: CNY800/student/year.

Others

(1)、Scholarship will not be reserved if scholarship recipient cannot register before the registration deadline.

(2)、Scholarship recipients shall not change their host university, field of study, or duration of study unless they give up the grant.

(3)、The CSC will evaluate the performance of the scholarship students annually.
